In 2015, November was officially proclaimed National Family Caregivers Month. It is a time to recognize the selfless efforts of caregivers across the country and rededicate ourselves to making sure our caregivers have the support they need to maintain their own well-being and that of the people they love.
Caregiving Includes Estate Planning
Living in the moment is important when caring for a loved one, but keeping the future in sight is also important. About 7 million Americans 65 years or older haven’t talked with their family about estate planning. Having a plan for their assets as well as health and long-term care are key when caring for a loved one in the case of the inability to continue caring for them, incapacitation, or death. Caregiver Action Network (CAN)
Caregiver Action Network is the nation’s leading family caregiver organization. It works to improve the quality of life for the more than 90 million Americans who care for loved ones with chronic conditions, disabilities, diseases, or the frailties of old age. If you are a caregiver, you can find an abundance of helpful information on CAN’s website, http://caregiveraction.org.
